“Our drill will thrust through the heaven! Who the hell you think I am! “
Yesterday was a fun day, Met up with Zer0 today and a few other bloggers/people and we had a mini parody about the current issue that has been affecting most of the niche community. Those freeloaders otaku-wannabe that all seemed to be so fired up about it, where are the whole lot of you? it would have been alot nicer if there were more toys and figurine on display. but still it was fun nonetheless. i admit i didn’t bring my gurren lagan, it was still in box so i didnt want to risk any damages.
The coverage in Zer0’s perspective.
The day started off by meeting up Zer0 @ KKnM, We popped over to Youth Park for this parody.

check - parody props :
check - whoever that is coming :
check - parking coupon(s) :

All basic stuff done, lets head over to the site. I was surprisd to see 4 red armored riot-control-looking bus/van and 3-4 normal cars parking on the double yellow line. Sheesh, and they can just park there.
there wasn’t any sign informing the public if there were anything going on. In singapore you cannot park at the double line, is an offense. but that applies to civilians anyway. sigh, anyway i head over to the carpark to park my car, didn’t want to risk to violate anymore parking laws. I just violated code 18 the night before. T__T
so when i was there, the toys and figurines were all lined up in place! omg i saw so many characters that accompanied me through childhood. it was so nostalgia just thinking about the shows i used to watch as a kid. man, time really flies.

I was surprised to see a big crowd gathering, i thought there would be less then 10 that would actually come down. On second look, well they are not interested in our little toys/figurine photoshoot, they are the guardians of law, protector of justice, the police. (≧ω≦)guess those that made comments that they are coming are just trash talkers. Talk IS cheap. But i’m a bit worried and disturbed by this person comment, he actually thought this photoshoot is going to spark off riots,

August 23rd, 2007 at 12:37 am i think this event will result in a worse impression in anime fans and may even result in government intervention AGAINST US. it will just make us look like a bunch of hooligans.hell no, we need a better thought out plan than just going on the streets to rally. THIS IS SINGAPORE MIND YOU. the most anyone has done before is having a ROOM PROTEST. they held banners and protested in a ROOM.
I guess thats what the police are afraid of, a person with a rioting mindset.

I wonder why is there such a big group of law keepers present, could they think that there is going to be a riot going on? probably. well i guess is safer to be in larger and hope nothing happens rather than small group and something DID happen. But knowing otakus, we are all peace loving people that just wants to play around with our stuff. Nothing serious going on, just a cute paraody.

Like all paraodies out there, there really is no intention in deframing someone if there was any at all, is just a punchline for current issues. Something to make the current issue less tense but at the same time reflect on what is happening. i hope we didn’t cross anyline by displaying our toys in public, dont remember if there is any law saying toys cannot be displayed for photoshooting purpose. But those toys can get dangerous too, kids under 3 in contact with them could sallow the smaller parts, resulting in chokes. So kids do not try this at home. Get an adult to supervise when you are playing with toys.

So anyway heres some shoots that i’ve took during the phototaking session. The lightning was good although we were in the shade, there were enough light. Anyway after being a youth for 20years, this was actually my First time staying longer than 10mins @ youth park. I don’t know why but the youth park always gives me this impression it isn’t safe to venture in alone, people hang out in groups there. now lets play, can you spot the toys? xD

I took my old vandread 2 vcds to the event to destroy, the silver color flaked off already and the disc was more or less unreadable already, sigh so much for my $17. It was in english dub, pretty dimwit i would say. i dont like my shows to have the original audio dubbed. it spoils the mood the Original director intended it to be.
heres a video on how to destroy optical media, Kids do not try this at home! it is dangerous! The person that is doing this is a trained personel, he has undergo special skin toughening excerises to protect from cuts.
After which we cleaned up and threw away the rubbish, tied up the trash in a bag before we dump it away, hooray for multiple dustbins around the area!

I guess the photoshoot was a success! it was really fun meeting you guys! all these toys really brought me back alot of memories, gosh i’m a such an otaku. the photoshoot was a warp up and we begin to clean up the area,

Heh, if you look at this few photo, it may look like a scene with many of their commdares fallen yet they still stood for what they believed in.

It was such a fun time doing the photoshoot, meeting everyone that i only know through the words they typed was great too. But there is one thing that really bugs me, the law enforcers that were present, i really felt there was an invasion of privacy. IC were taken away and screened through, There was this few guys/ladies armed with camera and doucmenting the whole event. It is fine if you are doing that but they went really close to take closeup of whoever is there, it really creeps me out.
Their mecha that were present, the amount of forces present, it gave me a really bad feeling during the whole photoshoot. it felt like there were sniper(s) camping around the area each of them had multiple targets locked, ready to shoot if they spot any danger. Or the whole place was filled with c4, ready to blow us up should we attempt anything dangerous.
After which, when we went over to orchard road for coffee, i noticed quite a few of those law enforcers that were present during the photoshoot was actually following us around, something like markers placed around the area to stalk us. It was really creepy walking towards the coffee place, there were quite a few pair of eyes locking onto you. You can really feel it.
but when we reached the coffee place, the mood was back up and we were chatting about what we used to watch and it was really nice. recalling all those old animes, shows that were shown some 5-10years back.
Oh i forgot to mention but this was one of my favourite, Mircoman,

Was quite a fan when i read their manga when i was a kid. xD

Hi,
I just want to say that I salute what you did with the Odex protest. Or anti odex protest rather. It was a courageous thing to do, especially given the Singaporean mentality towards protests and voicing out. Congratulations and kudos to you for carrying it out.

The Singapore government has purchased some lands in Second Life. I wonder whether if u stage a protest in Second Life, would there also be Riot Police avatars with the riot cars there to capture you.

If i am in sg during that time, I will definately join in the fun. I will wear my metallic black ribbon collar pin. And bring my Shinigami from Gundam Wing put behind that certain paper mascot ;P
As for the police, u dun nid to be afraid of them. we are not doing anything illegal. As long as our conscience is clear, there is nothing to be afraid of. Challenge them, talk to them, take their photos like they took yours. If they are stalking you, strike a conversation with them. If they make u feel uneasy, call the police, saying that you are being stalked. Eyyyy!!! this doesnt sound right… lol

yeah lets all not buy any of Odex products.. Black list their website. dun even resell their products. =) if odex treat us like animals.. we shld also treat odex as animals.
in sg.. we have almost no human rights.. this incident yet again proves this pt..
When will sg open up? and tell us things that are true and not jus lie thru their backside?

should have given one of the protest banners to the officers. then they can keep one on record as the day they got owned.

I think ODEX is too much; they start the whole things by lying. If you all followed the process from the beginning (if you all read newspaper)
1. Odex lied about the cost that they need to cover to track the illegal download. In “Todays” news paper, it said it’s only cost odex 25 dollar a month for tracking 100 IP. Meanwhile he said from the fine (SGD 3000 – SGD 5000) is not enough to cover the cost.
2. If you saw “strait times”, the letter that odex sent out is not legal since it was created by odex him self, it’s not by lawyer. So court is asking the legal status of the letter.
3. Peter ho also lied about the quality of their sub, he said it’s because of Singapore rules, so they need to change, meanwhile if you read “the new paper”, the government actually denied all of the statement. And said government never told any company to change their subtitle.
4. Odex lied about which anime that they own the rights. They never really open to the community about which one that the have. When the PACnet court, the court revile that ODEX only own right for Gundam seed, and not for the rest of the movie.
5. Odex doesn’t differentiate the content that user download, they will just fine people. Some of the content in the internet is Legal, How about if you bought movie online, how about if you bought software online, now who’s going to protect internet user from this kind of “Law”
5. Even if you see from the history of them, they also last time selling pirated stuff and being raid by cops and goes bankrupt. You can read this on “the news paper”, “strait times”
You actually notice many things when you are following the whole process from news
I think basically in the start they want to make profit by doing this (Since their company performance is not good), but when things turn bad, they can’t run. So they keep lying and lying to protect them self. As the communities become angrier, people become more aware about their lie. And the latest news now, they tried to offer peace by saying they wont sue people who stop download. I think now they scared of the community but they can’t turn back. If they do that, they will lose their credibility. I hope Odex will go down soon.
I am honoring those people who brave enough to fight for this right. My support is with you all. This type of guys and company, who always lying and think about them self, I can’t trust their word anymore. I won’t buy or support anything about ODEX, even though they promise lot things. I also got PRIDE, and I am not as low as them (Lying to others for profit).
I don’t understand why no one on the government react about the entire lie and why Japanese company like Bandai supporting them. None of them tried to bring these facts to the court despite the news already told that ODEX lied for many things.
Maybe in the end it’s all about money. Who’s strong, they will win. Even with all the fact, Odex still can get Japan for help and now still free to sue people. Even though the reality is like this but I am proud to those who fight on this matter. It gives me courage and opens my eyes too
